Visited my son in the Berkshires last week end. There was a tree calling me to visit and take her photo. So I followed her call and ended up at the famed Tanglewood Music School..
Turns out the call was from a youngish Grandmother Tree who lives off on the right side of the great concert lawn. This tree is a fir balsam and it is in the same energetic family as a much older Grandmother, also an evergreen, who I photographed in the Olympic Peninsula, Washington. Clear across our great continent!
Much of what the tree world has to tell us I can grasp the basics of. I’m working on refining my abilities to understand more fully their unique purposes and personalities. So here is what I could comprehend as each Grandmother told me her story, and how they are similar to each other.
In both these trees, there is a strong very aware central core, and emanating from that several very long and curving branches. Each has a thinner branch that is clearly masculine – a phalanx extending into the world and grounding in nature. And another very long branch that is clearly feminine – a tube that contains and sends compassion into the world. Each also has very strong images on her trunk. Each has “breasts.”
They have let me know they are Grandmother trees, and that their function is to hold energy both for their area and also worldwide. They are loving, compassionate – and very aware. They are also humble, and don’t do much to call attention to themselves. They have a very energetically rich, nurturing energy. If you’ve seen any of these grand trees in your area, do let me know!
The Olympic peninsula tree has a wonderful smiling face. The Tanglewood tree has several images around its trunk. I especially like the image of the conductor – very romantic in his strong profile – on a branch that extends towards Tanglewood’s music stage. My son and his wife were intrigued at how similar in looks it is to the profile of one of the early conductors at the site, whose bust is in the main house.
On the opposite side of the tree to the conductor is a pensive listener. The conductor is at the end of a long branch, sending his energy out, while the listener is on the main trunk, receiving that energy into the core of the tree. So this Grandmother is grounding and emanating the musical vibrations of Tanglewood into the world.
I do hope Tanglewood appreciates and protects her, for she is a powerful representative in the energetic world for their particular mission of musical offerings.
