Sodalite is a calming stone capable of connecting to the sacred laws of communication in the universe. It eases confusion and focuses the mind, acting as a sedative that allows one to state their thoughts with clarity. For sensitive souls, this stone is an excellent companion for self-expression and speaking their truth to their social circles. Sodalite also encourages self-esteem and trust, further helping emotional people connect with themselves.
Historical Folklore
Ancient civilizations may have unknowingly used sodalite as a material for painting and sculpting.
Sodalite was formally discovered sometime in the 1800s. Some say it was first discovered in Greenland, while others believe it was originally found somewhere in Europe. It would not see widespread use for several decades, up until it was discovered to be in great supply in Canada.
After the 1800s, sodalite became a popular decorative stone. Some say it was a favorite of princesses.
This stone is believed to be excellent for writers and speakers for its power to enhance communication in all forms.
Due to its coloration, sodalite has often been confused for lapis lazuli.
Geology
Sodalite is a type of mineral known as a feldspathoid. When magma rich in sodium hardens, crystal inclusions can form together and create this stone. It ranges between shades of deep blue with white patterns. It has been found in Greenland, Canada, Brazil, Italy, and parts of Asia.
Chakra Association
Sodalite works especially well as a throat and third eye chakra stone.
Care
You can place sodalite in full moon moonlight to energize. It can also be moved through sage smoke or incense, placed in rice, or buried in the earth overnight.
Astrological Association
It is thought that Capricorn and Pisces resonate well with sodalite.
Health Folklore
Sodalite is said to have a variety of health benefits, including stabilizing the thyroid, balancing the metabolism, cleaning the lymphatic system, and boosting immunity. It may also help with sleep troubles and radiation damage. Above all, this stone is considered excellent for healing throat ailments.
