Shungite is an ancient stone found almost exclusively in northwest Russia. It has been found in deposits dated to be between 1.9 to 2 Billion years old from the Paleoproterozoic era, a time in earths history when early life was just beginning. This unique stone had formed from organic sediments that were deposited in lagoon like shallow water environments. Shungite is thought to protect against EMF radiation and clears out both emotional and mental pollutants. It is believed by many to transform water, giving it strong healing properties that can boost the immune system, balance one’s equilibrium, and transmute stress.

Historical Folklore

The Russian Czar Peter is said to have traveled to the Karelia region of Russia specifically for shungite infused water.

Shungite has been used for healing purposes throughout Russia since the 1700s.

Geology

Shungite is found mainly in the Karelia region of Russia. It has also been found in Austria, India, Kazakhstan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is named after Shunga, a village near the region in which it was originally found. Shungite is black in color and classified as carbon rich mineraloid.

Shungite is believed to connect with the Earth star, root, and higher heart chakras. Some believe it connects with all chakras.

Astrological Association

Shungite is typically associated with Cancer, though it has also been thought to resonate with Capricorn, Aquarius, and Scorpio.

According to folklore, shungite benefits the cellular, immune, cardiovascular, and digestive systems in the body. It also aids the throat, kidneys, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder. Many attest to this stone helping develop healthier sleep patterns.
