Kanab Goldenstone Sandstone – Information
Kanab Goldenstone Sandstone has unique pictures formed from hematite that has stained sand, in a deposition of shifting environmentally-induced patterns that occurred over millions of years. The weight of these millions of years of deposition has concreted the sand into solid stone, which when cut properly create unique sandstone pictures. Kanab Goldenstone sandstone has been specially cut by a family of stonecutters from stone on their family property in Kanab, Utah.
This sandstone is part of the Shinarump Formation, which is part of the more extensive Chinle Formation, and was formed during the Late Triassic period, some 180 million – 220 million years ago. The sandstone was formed by deposition created by wind and water, the colors and designs created by iron oxides. Shinarump is a basalconglomerate.
Metaphysical Properties
Kanab Goldenstone has metaphysical properties as well. The hematite gives strength and protection to the flowing adaptability of the sand – e.g., it enables you to flow with a situation while staying strong in your values and personal determination. Kanab Goldenstone and Arizona Sierra Sandstone are very similar in nature. Kanab Goldenstone is browner while the Arizona Sierra Sandstone is more on the red/orange side.
