Here are three views of some HooDoos – large stone figures that to early settlers of the west looked magical. These HooDoos are from my day off when shopping the Tucson Gem Show to get new specimens for you, our customers and colleagues. The images are of a very peaceful eagle and snake, co-existing nicely in the Chiricahua National Forest – Apache territory! The eagle and snake are powerful elements in Mexican and Native American traditions, and represent to some the struggle between the polarities of good and evil, to others the forces of the upper world and lower world. Here, in this beautiful and desolate countryside, they have come to a place of peaceful harmony and cooperation with each other – the goal of all our earthly struggles, a state of balance.
