Congratulations to Julie Kopitko Weeden for her winning photo of dragon spirit at the Mendocino Headlands State Park, California. July’s contest was images shot on the grand scale in official natural parks.
We especially liked Julie’s photos because of their wonderful juxtaposition of grand and small – the dragon head cypress roots against the large stone outcroppings that dot the Pacific Northwest shoreline. Julie’s photos show an intimate connection to the spirit of the trees, which was especially touching to us. Dragon spirit is the fiery earth spirit of change, and their energy frequently manifests in the skeletal roots of the huge trees that wash up on some of the Pacific Northwest beaches. The energy of many of these trees seems even bigger in so-called “death” and there are huge beneficial spirits residing in them!
Julie has won a $50 gift certificate to use on the crystal-life.com website.
It was a tough choice as Kazuyo Nancy Nishikawa posted some exquisite photos of Mt. Shasta and Smith Rock State Park, Oregon. We loved her cloud spirit licking the snow off of Mt. Shasta on a hot day.
Her photo of a reclining female figure in a rock outcrop at Smith Rock State Park in Oregon captured an intricate natural stone carving.
