Geology

Tiger Eye is a type of metamorphic rock primarily composed of quartz that contains parallel layers of the minerals amphibole, another silicate mineral, and Limonite, an iron ore, grown between layers of the quartz base.   This parallel growth of different minerals creates a sort of “sandwich” of gemstones with each layer reflecting light in its own way. This gives Tiger Eye its chatoyancy or “flash”. It is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia.

Tiger Eye is a beneficial stone to those born under the sun sign Leo. It helps you to stay serene, especially when worn on the right side of your body.
