The ancient yogic cultures have given us many energy assisting practices now used in the West, including hatha yoga, meditation, pranayama, and mudras or hand positions. By placing your hands in various positions, you can profoundly affect your energy.
In today’s fast paced world, with all that is going on, we wanted to share with you the simple mudra below, which you can do anywhere, throughout the day. It affects accupressure points and stimulates self-confidence and self-assertion, and counteracts fear and timidity. Called the Ahamkara Mudra, it is done thusly: Bend index fingers slightly and put the upper phalanx of the thumb to the side of the middle phalanx of the index finger, at the upper part. Other fingers are straight. Hold for a minute or so, on either or both hands.
Another mudra that you can try is the prithvi mudra, which increases energy, and fosters a sense of inner stability and self-assurance. In this, the tip of the ring finger and thumb touch. See photo below.
