Spun bamboo is created using a technique that is over one thousand years old yet the resulting design is far from old fashioned. Spun bamboo is created by shaping thin strips of pliable bamboo around molds and drying them to shape. Pieces are then hand-sanded to a smooth, silky finish and multiple layers of weather-resistant varnish are applied to achieve a hard, glossy finish.
